The Greene County boys varsity golf team placed sixth in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference meet at the Tournament Club of Iowa in Polk City Tuesday. Elijah Block earned all-conference honors for the second year. He led the Rams with a 79, just three strokes off meet medalist Dylan Sporrer of Nevada.
Coach Dave Destival said his team’s goal was to shoot a 360, and they tallied 361. Isaiah Yoder shot 92, Jadon Block shot 93, and Ben Wilkins shot 97 for the team score. Also golfing were Chase Juergensen with a 103 and Curtis Muir with a 108.
Gilbert won the conference meet with a 322, with Nevada close behind at 324. Other team scores were Roland-Story 334, South Hamilton 341, PCM 349, Saydel 388, North Polk 4056, and CMB 530.
The varsity team has a meet at South Hamilton May 4 and then plays in sectional competition in Denison May 12.
